Friul Mosaic + Studio Apostoli - Mosartec, the project designed for spas and wellness areas
The MOSARTEC project was born from the union of a reality like FRIUL MOSAIC and the technologies integrated by Studio Apostoli, led by the “wellness” architect Alberto Apostoli.
More specifically, the project consists in the creation of some products for spas and wellness areas: a multifunctional shower area, in which the Newform shower head and the Eutech touch controls become high-tech elements totally integrated and almost hidden in the mosaic surface as if they were complementary parts of a single thing, a chaise-longue with a curtain, where stone, metal, softness, lightness, warmth and plays of light blend together. The aim of this journey was to demonstrate that an art form like the mosaic art of FRIUL MOSAIC, where the creation of unique and unrepeatable elements is done entirely by hand with the use of a hammer, can coexist and, indeed, be enhanced by the collaboration with technological and industrial contexts and processes.
The process that the FRIUL MOSAIC world has undergone through the development of the MOSARTEC project is almost comparable to a natural evolution: the mosaic now appears more modern and the technology less cold, their fusion has given life to a product that is shaped according to needs and is renewed at all times. The tiles have a variable size of about 1.5 cm for a thickness of 10 mm and the materials used are Travertino Rosso, Rosso Verona, Rosso Laguna, Smalti Veneziani and Glass.
Friul Mosaic with Nespoli and Novara at Fuorisalone
Can design objects, a work of art, good music and good food be traced back to the concept of beauty and therefore save the world? FRIUL MOSAIC has always been a source of fascination and inspiration for companies in the sector, especially for the research it carries out to identify paths of new forms and meanings in the world of artistic mosaic, representing at the same time the essence of the classic and contemporary spirit. VANIXA Italian Home Flame offers exclusive and innovative furnishing accessories inspired by the emotional concept of fire. Together, on the occasion of the Milan design week, they explore and deepen the concept of matter associated with functional beauty. Under the expert art direction of Nespoli and Novara they become an integral part of the event “Beauty will save the world”, an innovative sensorial and visual journey, with high technological, artisanal and sartorial content: stories of rare beauty, with men and women as protagonists and in search of a new aesthetic of comfort.
The Vela di Colombo by VANIXA, an exclusive emotional brazier with a lava effect and the I Metalli series, the seminato made by FRIUL MOSAIC will be active protagonists of the Milanese event. The latter is a product made by mixing the Venetian seminato with the “processing waste” of the metals from Zucchetti taps. The fusion between metals and two ancient techniques such as those of seminato and mosaic are the basis of the innovative and contemporary collection by FRIUL MOSAIC.

The artistic mosaic signed Friul Mosaic
Proposing customizable and artisan-quality solutions is now fundamental in the world of design and furnishings. FRIUL MOSAIC has always made this philosophy its strong point, thanks to its mastery of mosaic art and the uniqueness of its creations. The ancient discipline of artistic mosaic was born as a form of art and expression that is handed down and becomes tradition.
With Friul Mosaic it is possible to design your own personal mosaic: inside the company’s laboratory the artisans cut the tiles by hand, thus creating shapes and mosaics with sartorial precision destined to last over time. The tiles used reach a size of up to a few millimeters and the materials used are a mixture of marble, Venetian enamels and gold.
Collaborating with brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, prestigious hotels such as the Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromées and many other important names, FRIUL MOSAIC is bringing the concept of artistic mosaic back to the forefront, which not only has a strong component of craftsmanship and art but is also part of the latest trends.
Friul Mosaic for the historic Caffè Contarena in Udine
FRIUL MOSAIC restores the five niches of the historic Caffè Contarena in Udine, located in the Municipal Offices building of the historic capital of Friuli. This time the mosaic art of Friul Mosaic finds its maximum expression in its native territory, between the medieval atmosphere transmitted by the castle, the artistic works of Tiepolo and Caravaggio, and the Renaissance buildings such as the pink and white marble cathedral and the Baroque cathedral. Designed in 1935 by the Friulian artist Pietro Someda De Marco, the niches of the Caffè Contarena are a rare example of Italian Art Deco.
The reason why the intervention of Friul Mosaic, an expert in mosaic art, was necessary is that during the post-war renovations in the 1950s, they were almost completely destroyed. The mosaics were then partially restored for the part that could be recovered, and made from scratch based on the original projects, instead, for the remaining three quarters.
The goal of the company, together with the architect who led the project Lorenzo Miani, was to remain faithful to the original work through a careful philological reconstruction process that brought the niches back to their ancient splendor. Materials such as Venetian enamels and gold were used for the creation.
The mosaic covering is the result of a 100% Made in Italy production and confirms the ability of FRIUL MOSAIC to not only customize each work, making it possible to create unique and unrepeatable environments, but also to reproduce pre-existing works. In fact, inside the company’s laboratory, its mosaic artisans cut the tiles by hand, still using the hammer, and thus create shapes and mosaics with sartorial precision that are destined to last over time.
