Project

Located on the French Riviera, Villa Miraé is a Relais & Châteaux boutique hotel where contemporary design is integrated with the character of its surroundings. For this hospitality project, conceived by Maison Numéro 20 under the creative direction of Oscar Lucien Ono, Friul Mosaic developed and installed a bespoke mosaic mural that defines the arrival experience.
From concept development through on-site installation, the mosaic was conceived as an architectural surface, integrated within the spatial identity of the hotel and designed to establish a strong visual connection between material, place, and design.

The inspiration

Conceived as a vertical botanical composition, the mosaic draws inspiration from the Mediterranean landscape and the chromatic qualities of Cap d’Antibes.
Through the interaction of material, light, and craftsmanship, the surface introduces depth, movement, and variation, transforming the wall into an integral architectural element. The project reflects Maison Numéro 20’s bespoke design approach, where each component is developed in response to the specific context of the space.
The result is a contemporary interpretation of mosaic, combining traditional Italian craftsmanship with a refined architectural language.

Materials

The composition combines marble, Venetian enamels, and gold leaf, selected for their ability to generate depth, luminosity, and material contrast.
Each tessera was individually cut and positioned by hand according to traditional mosaic techniques, ensuring precision and continuity throughout the composition.
The interaction between the matte surfaces of natural stone, the chromatic intensity of Venetian enamels, and the reflective qualities of gold leaf creates a surface that responds to changing light conditions, producing subtle variations in perception throughout the day.
