Project

“Looking Back to Look Forward” is the title of the 50-square-meter mosaic that dominates the lobby of the ING Hubs in Bucharest, located in a building designed by architects Tudor Vlasceanu and Ciprian Rasoiu.

The inspiration

The work draws inspiration from the atom and the Sputnik 1 and Vanguard satellites.
The orbiting hands in Nancǎ's work represent elements that, according to the artist, have transformed humanity thanks to advances in science and technology. The mosaic embodies the philosophy that inspires ING Hubs Romania: technology has the potential and responsibility to instill hope and optimism for a better future.
With its planetary orbits, the work also draws inspiration from
“Space Construction No. 12” by Aleksandr Rodchenko from 1920.
Consider the large wall as a boundless work of art in which color, movement, and suspension interact with the building's internal architecture.

Materials

For the mosaic project “Looking back to look forward”, high-quality materials were carefully chosen to enhance the depth and refinement of the work.
The backdrop is crafted from natural stone, lending it solidity and an organic texture that contrasts beautifully with the intricate decorative details.
The dynamic elements of the design are made of natural enamel, a material that enhances the brilliance and vivacity of the colours, creating a visual effect that evolves with the light and reflections.
The combination of natural stone and enamel not only adds aesthetic beauty but also evokes a sense of permanence and innovation, symbolizing the fusion of traditional craftsmanship with modern scientific and technological discoveries.
