Project

Éclats is the result of a collaboration between Friul Mosaic and designer Fabio Ferrillo Belli, with the aim of exploring new expressive languages for contemporary mosaics. Between art and design, tradition and innovation, the project imbues mosaic with a poetic and narrative function. In an ongoing dialogue between material and imagination, Éclats reinvents the ancient with a sustainable and contemporary approach.

The inspiration

Three visual worlds shape the project. Tropical Jungle evokes the wild power of nature, celebrating biodiversity, color, and vitality, while also inviting reflection on current environmental emergencies. Tribute to Milan celebrates the city of design, where history and architecture merge into an ever-evolving urban fabric. Flying Creatures introduces hybrid beings—between sky, land, and sea—such as birds, insects, and flying fish. Symbols of transformation and freedom, visual metaphors for the fragmentation and fluidity that define the language of mosaic.

Materials

Materiality is at the heart of the project: each surface is handcrafted, combining aesthetic research with a commitment to sustainability. Friul Mosaic uses sintered recycled glass, natural pigments, and lightweight yet durable aluminum honeycomb panels. Three-dimensional elements, created with plant fibers through 3D printing, lend depth and movement. Each piece is unique, custom-designed, and entirely handcrafted in the Friulian workshop, where the art of mosaic continues to evolve with a profound respect for its tradition.
