Project

Friul Mosaic was commissioned to complete the monumental dome cladding project for the magnificent Basilica of Aparecida, located in São Paulo, Brazil. The project involved the creation and installation of over 2,000 square meters of mosaic, following the designs of the late Brazilian artist Claudio Pastro. This impressive project stands as a powerful reflection of both artistic craftsmanship and religious devotion, transforming the space into a monumental work of art that enhances the Basilica's spiritual atmosphere.

The inspiration

The mosaic design is deeply rooted in the Basilica's religious and cultural significance. The vibrant colors and intricate patterns honor the sacred nature of the space, while also reflecting Claudio Pastro's style and vision. The artist's use of symbolism and rich imagery connects heaven and earth, creating a visual experience both spiritual and majestic. The mosaic plays a key role in conveying the Basilica's religious message, enveloping visitors in an atmosphere of reverence and devotion.

Materials

For this extraordinary work, Friul Mosaic chose Venetian enamel as the primary material, enhancing the design with its rich color palette and glossy finish. Additionally, Venetian enamel with gold leaf was used to lend a divine luminosity and radiance to the mosaic's key elements. This combination of materials ensures durability and brilliance, allowing the mosaic to stand the test of time while enhancing the grandeur of the Basilica's dome. The gold leaf accents lend an ethereal appearance, enhancing the space's spiritual significance.
