Mosaic, Architecture, Design

Showroom Milano Via Giovenale 7/03 20136 Milan, Italy

8 October 2026 | 6.00 PM - 8.00 PM

Mosaic is often associated with tradition and decoration. Today, however, it can also be understood as a sophisticated language for contemporary architecture, capable of transforming a surface into an active design element that engages with light, material and space.

Drawing on Friul Mosaic’s experience, this event offers a new perspective on mosaic and its role within contemporary architectural design. Through culture, craftsmanship, material research and innovation, the discussion will explore how mosaic can become an integral part of a project concept, contributing to the character, perception and identity of a space.

The talk will examine the role of artistic mosaic in contemporary design, focusing on the dialogue between architect and mosaic artist, the expressive possibilities of the medium, and the intersection of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design research. Through selected case studies and international projects, the event will illustrate how mosaic can respond to the demands of contemporary architecture, moving beyond the notion of surface covering to become a material and compositional element within the architectural language.
