Friul Mosaic + Studio Apostoli - Mosartec, the project designed for spas and wellness areas
The MOSARTEC project was born from the union of a reality like FRIUL MOSAIC and the technologies integrated by Studio Apostoli, led by the “wellness” architect Alberto Apostoli.
More specifically, the project consists in the creation of some products for spas and wellness areas: a multifunctional shower area, in which the Newform shower head and the Eutech touch controls become high-tech elements totally integrated and almost hidden in the mosaic surface as if they were complementary parts of a single thing, a chaise-longue with a curtain, where stone, metal, softness, lightness, warmth and plays of light blend together. The aim of this journey was to demonstrate that an art form like the mosaic art of FRIUL MOSAIC, where the creation of unique and unrepeatable elements is done entirely by hand with the use of a hammer, can coexist and, indeed, be enhanced by the collaboration with technological and industrial contexts and processes.
The process that the FRIUL MOSAIC world has undergone through the development of the MOSARTEC project is almost comparable to a natural evolution: the mosaic now appears more modern and the technology less cold, their fusion has given life to a product that is shaped according to needs and is renewed at all times. The tiles have a variable size of about 1.5 cm for a thickness of 10 mm and the materials used are Travertino Rosso, Rosso Verona, Rosso Laguna, Smalti Veneziani and Glass.
Friul Mosaic art in its Rosso Salone Period
Among the most relevant news in the artistic-artisan field we find the works of FRIUL MOSAIC which, as a point of reference for the Milan Design Week, will be presented this year together with WWTS at the Four Seasons Hotel with its designer mosaic coverings.
Every year the Design Week takes up more and more space in the Milan area, but also in our hearts. An unmissable event for some time now, it has become the catalyst for ideas par excellence. Visionary, stimulating, sustainable, technological, trashy, minimal and so on and so forth, the week cannot end without some of them remaining in your memory… and probably some of them will be heard about for the rest of the year.
Among the most relevant news in the artistic-artisan field we find the works of FRIUL MOSAIC which, as a point of reference for the Milan Design Week, will be presented this year together with WWTS at the Four Seasons Hotel with its designer mosaic coverings.
An integral part of the biennial Salone del Bagno, this year (a year off from the Salone del Bagno) it presents its new products in Via Gesù 6/8 in the fashion district (Press Preview 9 April at 7:30 pm).
FRIUL MOSAIC is completely at ease and in good company among the Italian excellences of haute couture; strong in the collaborations already underway in the field of high fashion, including the one that saw it create 350 square meters of mosaic coverings for the new Dolce & Gabbana store in Venice and several others in the luxury sector.
After all, the art of weaving has already inspired the homonymous TESSERE collection, designed for FRIUL MOSAIC by Luisa Bocchietto (President of WDO), whose patterns will be visible throughout the duration of the MDW. Typical of the Biella area, where the designer Luisa Bocchietto comes from, weaving is based precisely on the values of craftsmanship and creativity. This is how the idea of TESSERE was born, the result of an in-depth study of fabrics and textures in their construction and formal composition.
TESSERE is particularly representative for FRIUL MOSAIC because it refers not only to the action of weaving, but also to the fundamental element of each mosaic, namely the tesserae, 10 mm thick, cut by hand with a hammer by its craftsmen and arranged in such a way as to form compositions that are always unique and unrepeatable.
The dimensions of the tesserae used for the collection vary from 1.5×1.5 to 1×1 and the images use materials such as Thassos, Bardiglio, Bianco Carrara and Nero Marquina. Next month in Milan, a new, more lively version will be available, characterized by the use of different types of polychrome marble. Tessere will participate in the next Design Index.
Another important project will guide us through the art of Friul Mosaic at the Milan Design Week, namely the one created in collaboration with Alberto Apostoli, an architect and guru in the wellness field. More specifically, MOSARTEC, based on craftsmanship and technology, consists in the creation of some unexpected products perfect for spas and wellness areas.
A multifunctional shower area, where the shower head and the touch controls become high-tech elements totally integrated and almost hidden in the mosaic surface as if they were complementary parts of a single thing, an innovative and surprising chaise-longue with an elegant and velarium where stone, metal, softness, lightness, warmth and plays of light blend together.
FRIUL MOSAIC, alongside its design proposals, also offers an artistic mosaic with warm shades on a marine theme as can be seen from the images.

Monaco Yacht Show, an exclusive stage rewards the Italian experience

Friul Mosaic will have the honor of unveiling its works to an international audience, confirming once again its leadership in the art of mosaic.
Marco Gallotta for Friul Mosaic
“Ephemeral Waves” by Marco Gallotta Italian-born, New York-based artist Marco Gallotta presents “Ephemeral Waves,” a mosaic work that captures the fluid and ever-changing essence of water. Through a clever play of positive and negative spaces, Gallotta creates a mosaic that evokes the natural movement of water, masterfully using light and color to reflect the ever-changing environment.
Created in collaboration with the artisans of Friul Mosaic, this work of art uses precious, hand-made Venetian enamels, positioned on a metal base, to create a mosaic that is not only a visual representation, but also an emotional experience. “Onde Effimere” fuses Gallotta’s artistic sensibility with the Friulian artisan tradition, creating a harmonious dialogue between innovation and craftsmanship.
Friul Mosaic and the collaboration with Theo Vanderzalm
The artist Theo Vanderzalm, originally from Australia and living in London, presents the work “Sedimentary”, a mosaic that explores the depths of the earth through a unique mix of advanced technologies and ancient artisanal techniques. The work, created in 2023, takes inspiration from images generated by artificial intelligence that represent the sedimentary layers of the soil, subsequently translated into mosaic thanks to the extraordinary skill of the artisans of Friul Mosaic. For this work, marble, stone, glass and precious Brazilian quartz were used, creating a stratification that evolves from a smooth finish to a rougher texture, revealing the authentic beauty of the material. The result of this collaboration is a work that expresses the three-dimensionality of deep matter, starting from a graphic matrix generated by the extraction of computer data, translated and interpreted by the hand of man in a unique mosaic work. “Sedimentary” is a reflection on the harmony between technological innovation and artistic tradition.

Friul Mosaic with Nespoli and Novara at Fuorisalone
Can design objects, a work of art, good music and good food be traced back to the concept of beauty and therefore save the world? FRIUL MOSAIC has always been a source of fascination and inspiration for companies in the sector, especially for the research it carries out to identify paths of new forms and meanings in the world of artistic mosaic, representing at the same time the essence of the classic and contemporary spirit. VANIXA Italian Home Flame offers exclusive and innovative furnishing accessories inspired by the emotional concept of fire. Together, on the occasion of the Milan design week, they explore and deepen the concept of matter associated with functional beauty. Under the expert art direction of Nespoli and Novara they become an integral part of the event “Beauty will save the world”, an innovative sensorial and visual journey, with high technological, artisanal and sartorial content: stories of rare beauty, with men and women as protagonists and in search of a new aesthetic of comfort.
The Vela di Colombo by VANIXA, an exclusive emotional brazier with a lava effect and the I Metalli series, the seminato made by FRIUL MOSAIC will be active protagonists of the Milanese event. The latter is a product made by mixing the Venetian seminato with the “processing waste” of the metals from Zucchetti taps. The fusion between metals and two ancient techniques such as those of seminato and mosaic are the basis of the innovative and contemporary collection by FRIUL MOSAIC.
